Look Your Best on Social Media

If a picture is worth a thousand words, on social media, photos are worth even more. Having dynamic photos and video content on social networks can build awareness for your school.

Most schools are active on popular social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. But there could, and should, be more pictures and video. Social media should be multimedia.

Young adults — the prospective students considering your university or college — are likely to share and repost photos using social media. By posting fresh photos and video content (think scenes from campus, interviews with students and faculty, shots of campus events), you can give these young users content to share and spread. Encourage faculty, clubs, teams and students to post appropriate video and photos as well.

Among internet users ages 18-29,  68% have reposted photos or videos they found elsewhere online, according to new data from Pew Research Center’s Internet Project.

The photo sharing site Instagram is very popular with young adults, and colleges can increase their presence on that site as well.

When users find and share photo and video content they find on your social media channels, it will increase your school’s visibility with your target audience. Plus, who doesn’t love a good photo?
