Maps have never looked so good. Sanmita recently launched a new website for Mapformation, the largest supplier of mapping solutions for higher education in the U.S.. The new site showcases Mapformation’s dynamic maps, and provides an innovative visual search function to view the wide array of maps.
The new website is powered by Sanmita’s exclusive AcademicsWeb CMS and opted for a hosted solution, with Sanmita handling monitoring and maintenance.
Mapformation creates detailed illustrated maps that can be viewed in two-dimensional or three-dimensional designs. These maps are well-suited for large campuses where users demand different approaching to viewing, from a large overview, to extremely localized and detailed views.
As Mapformation looks to grow its business in higher ed, medical/corporate campuses and destinations, a new website was key to that process. Nearly all of Mapformation’s new business is generated through its website, making its online presence vital to its growth. To accomplish its goals, Mapformation needed a dynamic new website to showcase its work.
To find a partner, Derek Tonn, CEO and a vector illustrator, turned to higher education forums, where he posted his needs and connected with Sanmita.
Mapformation came to Sanmita with its website design in-hand. The company needed a hosted solution to alleviate any maintenance headaches. That’s our specialty. Sanmita provided the development and implementation of the new site, and will handle future monitoring, maintenance and software upgrades.
On its new site, Mapformation wanted to showcase innovative new tools and designs. Sanmita developed features to support that work. Some of the highlights include:
- Zoom.it:This feature allows users to see 2D and 3D maps in high-resolution, and to effortlessly zoom in and out. Sanmita also integrated GoogleMaps, so clients can see their Mapformation maps layered on top of a GoogleMap.
- Visual Search:Through this inventive feature, users will see actual thumbnails of maps, rather than just text when they do a search. Users can select a type of map (2D, 3D) or select key words. The visual map showcases Mapformations product, and also provides contact info for each map, so clients can get more information.
- Blogging & Ratings/Reviews:The blogging feature will allow Mapformation to share news and information with its users. Through the ratings and reviews, users will be able to rate the maps and share them with friends. These tools will help drive traffic and convert users to clients.
